remington meet the boss ryan lammey blog post

posted August 28, 2017

Beard Boss Ryan Lammey has completely embraced the bearded lifestyle. In addition to his role as a beard ambassador for Remington, he’s the president and founder of a local beard wearer’s union that actively promotes facial growth and charity work.
Though his beard has yet to win any competitions, Ryan takes pride in the one thing his beard has won: “The hearts of the American people.” Check out the Q&A below to discover more fun facts about the glorious beard and the good dude behind it.

Where are you from and what do you do for a living?
Born and raised in Terre Haute, IN, but now call Madison, WI, home. I have a 9-5 day job in Purchasing, and play music and run a facial hair club in my free time.

Describe your beard and explain how it came to be.
My first beard came to be when I was 19. It was a tactical beard so that I could slip into bars undetected to see my friend's bands play. (DON'T DO THIS KIDS) My current beard has several colors in it, but it's mostly ginger.

How does your beard impact your daily life?
My beard impacts my morning routine because I'm pretty low maintenance otherwise. I easily spend more time on that than anything else in the morning. I also shy away from certain messy foods, but it's a small price to pay for looking and feeling so manly.

Does your beard have a name?
My beard has been called many things, none of which I can repeat in polite company.

Are you superstitious about your beard? How so?
I'm not a superstitious person, but I haven't seen any chupacabras since I grew my beard. Just sayin'...

What all goes into styling and grooming your beard?
Some nice shampoo every few days, conditioner everyday... Beard oil then a brush through with a detangling brush. Comb it a bit more then apply some beard balm to finish.

What would it take for you to shave off your beard? A million dollars? A date with a super model? Will you ever shave it?
I would definitely shave it off for a million dollars and grow it back while I travel around the world.

What’s the best part about being a Beard Boss?
Meeting other bearded people and the people that love them.

What tips or advice do you have for someone just starting to grow out a beard?
Don't shave! It sounds overly simplistic, but you really need to give it time to develop.

Where do you see bearding going in the next 10 years? Will the trend continue to grow?
I would like to think we will be living in a post-"beard trend" world and facial hair will have become socially acceptable everywhere. Beards are constantly referred to as being trendy and fashionable, people write articles declaring the trend to be over, or they are negatively stereotyping people with beards... And those sort of opinions are only sustainable for so long. For me, it's really just about celebrating what your natural face looks like and tailoring that to fit your style. I don't think it should be seen any differently than your hair style.
